Shoot Report for :  DTL Monthly Competition January 2012
DATE:    7 January 2012
Attendance:  26 shooters
Weather: Fine, light breeze

Report:
Many club shooters travel away at this holiday time of the year, and that was reflected in the numbers that turned up at the Monthly DTL competition. Even so, 5 squads enjoyed a brilliant day for DTL with 100 targets being offered comprising of 50 D/B and 50 D/B Cont.
Joe Camilleri took out O/A with a fine 99/100 and a lot of shooters were not far behind him. (full results appear elsewhere)
I have to thank Vince Gatt (CPCTC President) for all his efforts in promoting the resurgence of monthly DTL competition, keeping the noms at $40 and guaranteeing the prize money.  Thanks to the volunteers and the office / canteen staff for making these days such a great success.
Also like to congratulate all the winners and place getters.
On behalf of C.P.C.T.C

Cecil Park Clay Target Club Monthly DTL Shoot Report for November 2011
We’re Back
After a long absence from regular monthly DTL shoots a small group of senior club members decided to approach the committee for support to embark on a programme of monthly Budget 100target shoots with cash prizes for all grades as well as a overall prize and or sash for the winner on the day. The nomination for the day is $40 and prize money is guaranteed $80 for overall first, $40 for 1st, $30 second and  $20 third in all grades from AA to C Grade.
With short notice the first of these events was conducted on the 1st October with only a small but enthusiastic  attendance. With minimal advertising other than by word of mouth our second shoot was held on the 5th November with double the entries of the first..The quality of shooters can be reflected in the results for the programme of one 100 Target event comprising 50 target double barrel and 50 target Point Score. In future the programme will vary but still comprise 100 targets whether it be double, single, point score or even double rise events.
Results from our November shoot which was conducted under ideal conditions and trialling Winchester White Flyer targets were as follows.
Overall went to Paul Farrugia and L Reghelin  with a scores of 198/200 and deciding  to split the prize money for overall and A Grade.
AA grade was won by the Big Banana Vince Gatt on 197/200 missing only one target in the point score. Second and third was fought out by the two veterans Peter Papps and Herb Prior both on a score of 196/200 Final placings  Papps 216/220 Prior 214/220 for second and third respectively.
A grade second place went to Andrew T (Tzolakis) with a score of 194/200 ahead of Mick Bojada on 193/200 Mick went into the Point score with 50/50 on the board but fell foul of the pointscore.
B grade was won by Don Durrant on 185/200
C grade was won by Simon Ho 127/200 from R Bartolo on 118/200
From comments made during the presentations we had a very happy group of shooters all itching to get amongst it at our next shoot on the 3rd of December. See you there!

2day ANIVERSARY SKEET CARNIVAL Report - by our shoot marshal Ben Buhagiar

Two Day Skeet Carnival at Cecil Park
On the weekend of the 12th & 13th of November, Cecil Park Clay Target Club held it’s annual 2 day Skeet Carnival. On both mornings we were greeted with slightly cool conditions and overcast skies but were lucky enough not have been rained on.
Some shooters that attended travelled some long distances, including places like Queensland with one in particular (Pat Dury) coming down all the way from Townsville, a couple of shooters from Victoria, and from varied places around NSW
With the help of my good friends, Michael, Jessie, Wayne, and Tony we had the targets on four layouts flying as near to perfect as possible and thanks to the incredible work done on the traps by Peter Vella the targets stayed that way ( except for a couple of minor adjustments) for the two days.
When all the nominations were in we had eleven squads of shooters for the Saturday and that was followed on the Sunday with ten squads. Now, to get ‘em going, I have experienced over a long period that a lot shooters are reluctant to volunteer to get the first wave under way by means of reefing and or scoring. Well, people, if you don’t help out, shoots would never start and don’t forget that you don’t have to do it again when next your turn comes round.
At around 15 minutes after the advertised starting time we finally got under way with the first event which was the Michael and Marina sponsored 50tgt Skeet Championship, the results are as follows :-  O/A winner John Guberina 89/89.  AA 1st Peter Vella 88/89,  AA 2nd Mark Fanning 57/58.  A grade 1st our very own President Vince Gatt with a perfect 50/50,  A 2nd Pat Dury 92/93.  B grade 1st (just to get back some of his sponsorship money) Michael “nugget” Maloney 60/61,  B 2nd Dennis Savage 59/61.  C grade 1st Robert Wade 47/50.  C 2nd Elton Chetcuti 46/50.
The second event, which has proved to be very popular was the 50tgt Skeet Handicap, this event was generously sponsored by Anthony Annecchini. After quqlifications were completed there were six squads to shoot-off for the 1st to 5th  prize money on offer. The results after lots of rounds of shooting, are, !st Elton Chetcuti 116/125. 2nd  Tony Hickman 121/125.  3rd Peter Papps 90/100.  4th Frank Cooper 99/100,  5th junior shooter Jack Kerfoot 90/100.
Sunday morning and we were under way ahead of time (yeeaahh) with the 3rd event which is the Ross Dawson Memorial 50tgt Skeet Championship. For those of us that remember Ross, (Dawso, to some of us) we have some great memories of one hell of a stirring, cheeky, buggar of a guy that you just could not help to love (we miss ya mate) Results are :-  there was a shoot-off for O/A between Stephen Bell and Mark Fanning and I happened to be the referee for the shoot-off and there was some doubt in my mind at station 4 low when Mark was shooting, with that in mind I offered to reinstate the target but Mark being the gentleman that he is was adamant that he missed the target and refused to have the target again, and so it goes. O/A Stephen Bell 109/112.  AA 1st Mark Fanning 108/112.  AA 2nd Peter Vella 61/62. A grade 1st Tony Hickman 74/74.  A 2nd Ian Stewart 49/50. B grade 1st Michael Maloney 58/59.  B 2nd Jack Cunningham 49/50.  C grade 1st Robert Wade 55/58.  C 2nd Joshua Cunningham 51/55.
The fourth and final event was the Seb Cavallaro Memorial 50tgt Championship. Seb was another of the very, very popular characters of skeet shooting and on his day could foot it with the best. We were fortunate to have four members of the Cavallaro family present, including Carina, Seb’s wife  (who’s a pretty handy shooter in her own right) Seb’s son and two granddaughters. We thank them all for giving up their time to make the presentations. Results are:- O/A Peter Vella 105/106.  AA 1st Shane Bennett 88/89.  AA 2nd Michael Buttigieg 61/62.  A grade 1st Ian Stewart 104/105. A 2nd Ronald Satara 77/79.  B grade 1st Reg Clarke 48/50.  B 2nd Dennis Savage 47/50.  C grade 1st Robert (becoming a habit) Wade 48/50.  C 2nd Joe Haddad 47/50.
The graded High Gun and section winners are:-
Junior High Gun Joshua Bell 192/200
Ladies High Gun Lorraine Hughes 194/200
C grade High Gun Robert Wade 186/200
B grade High Gun Tony Hickman 193/200
A grade High Gun Neil Dimick 195/200
AA High Gun Shane Bennett 198/200
O/All High Gun Peter Vella 199/200
Thanks to our three juniors who, under the watchful eye of Steve Bell, did a great job of keeping the traps full. Thank you Vivian in the canteen your food was sensational, the ladies in the office Maria and in particular Shelly, who had to battle computer gliches and came out a winner great job ladies. To my mates who are always willing to give me a hand, ( you know who you are) thank you so much guys. To the sponsors, where would we be without you, on behalf of all the shooters, thank you so very very much. And last of all but certainly not in the least to our Club President, Vince Gatt thanks mate for all that you do for us not only in skeet but clay target shooting generally.  We at Cecil Park believe that the Skeet Carnival was a great shoot and will endeavour to maintain our high standard.
Hope to see you and your friends next time round. Regards to all.
Ben Buhagiar ---Shoot Marshall.

October Monday SPORTING CLASSIC Report
CPCTC welcomed all shooters from Sydney and travellers from outer Sydney for this unique event. The weather was good as there was thankfully no rain with little overcast weather on the day.
Cecil Park does not usually close 7 out of the 11 available ranges for a sporting event, so as it was a long weekend with Monday being a public holiday, we took the opportunity to have a sporting event and with that in mind we would like to thank Vince and the committee for allowing this unique event to go forward, also would like to thank Krys Baczek for making sure all the traps and buttons were functional and also Vivien in the kitchen for looking after the shooters on the day.
Reno  Morganti was the shoot marshal and set the range up with help from Dave Abeni, Nino Gaggioli and myself (Leo Pezzano) in the office. We had 3 rounds of 33,33 and 34 which made up a 100tgt event with 5 shooters going into a 25tgt sporting clays final, We shot the event over 7 layouts and the finals were held on layout 6 that made a good spectators range.
The overall winner was Daniel Baskerville 83/100 and 23/25 in the final with a total of 106/125.
2nd overall – Steve Pain 83+20=103
