Coleman Shines at Cecil Park SXS Annual Shoot
--- 21st May 2011 ---
With perfect weather conditions the Second Annual Side by Side shoot of the Cecil Park Clay Target Club was conducted on Saturday 21st May. Shooters from Bermagui, Wagga, Illawarra, New South Wales Gun Club, Moss Vale and Cecil Park Clubs competed in the four event programme comprising Sporting Clays, Skeet, DTL and Double Rise events.
Outstanding shooter on the day went to Greg Coleman of New South Wales Gun Club who won the Sporting Clays, Skeet and Overall High Gun for the day. In the first two events Greg used his 20g Beretta with distinction defeating Steve Newcombe in the Sporting Clays by one target and in the skeet event Phil Craig of Bermagui by the same margin.
The Double barrel event saw the emergence of one of the Junior shooters of the club , Brian Camilleri, shoot the only possible of the day. Well done Brian.
Other shooters to fare well were Charlie Strike of Wagga who defeated local Paul Farrugia for the AA/A grade Double Barrel DTL event by shooting 24/24 in the shoot off and then Paul reversing the results in the Double Rise Event.
The annual Challenge Cup event held for Teams from New South Wales and Cecil Park was won for the second year by Cecil Park and was presented to the winners by Hugh McMaster President of the NSWCTC.
Thanks are due to our team of non shooting and shooting volunteers as well as all the visiting shooters who helped throughout the day to keep the programme running smoothly. Also to the juniors for keeping the traps filled and running the score sheets. Of special mention are the hard working Mums and family members of the Junior Development Squad who kept everyone supplied with good nourishment during the day.

Weather conditions - Fine & Sunny
What a great day to start the DTL 100tgt competition at Cecil Park, the weather was fantastic. The competition started on time and the day flowed on smoothly.
There were 3 people shooting 99/100 and just missing out on the shoot off, with another 3 shooting the possible 100/100. Charlie Sherry was the first to drop out with Peter Papps and Nino Lougas continuing on only to decide to ‘split’ first place between them. Peter Papps shot well to achieve his 150 break badge. Well done Peter.
A big thank you to Peter Papps, Colin O’Brien and Vince Gatt for their assistance in running the competition, also I’d like to say thank you to our Junior Development kids (Joey Pezzano, Anthony Bartolo, Darcy Chetcuti, Kaan Okan, and all the others that helped out), Alyce and Maria for their great work in the office, and everyone that helped with refereeing and Gemma Dunn for looking after the scoreboard.
